ninja sword

December 22nd, 2008

A ninja is a warrior of ancient Japan. However, some claim that they may have originated in China. They are an elusive group because they are known for their undercover activities. They are involved in assassination and espionage. They are skillful in handling a ninja sword. They are also experts in martial arts.

When translated, the word ninja actually means “one skilled in the art of stealth.” Hence, ninjas depicted in movies can quietly creep into an enemy’s camp and attack when least expected.

Morgan dollars

December 9th, 2008

Among the most popular types of U.S. coins to collect, U.S. dollars make up some of the world’s most valuable coins. Silver Morgan dollars were minted from 1878 to 1904 and again for one more year in 1921. These coins are named after designer George Morgan who made the obverse and reverse sides of the coin.

You can see Morgan’s monogram if you look closely near Lady Liberty’s neck on the obverse. Morgan dollars were authorized by the Bland-Allison Actof 1878. They have a finess of .900 and give a total silver content of 24.057 grams per coin. In the early 1970s, caches of Morgan dollars produced at the Carson City mint were discovered and sold to coin collectors by the federal government.

embroidery supplies

December 2nd, 2008

Embroidery is an art form that came about way back in the middle ages. No proper lady was without a sewing needle in her hands. In fact, the clothes that they wore during those times were all hand sewed. They even prepared the articles that the priests used when they were saying mass. They also sewed articles for the altar.

Nowadays, there are sewing machines that can do the job, but there is still something special about handmade embroidery. So if you are considering taking embroidery as a hobby, start out by looking for embroidery designs in books and catalogues, then purchase the right embroidery supplies such as needles, fabrics, and threads to do the job.
