adjustable easels

February 1st, 2010

The design of easels has evolved according to its use. Manufacturers of children’s needs might have found that children grew as fast as their need for easels. Because of this, they designed adjustable easels. They were meant to grow with the child. It could be lengthened and widened. They could use paper on it as toddlers and move on to canvas or chalkboards as they grew older.

Adjustable easels were also made for teachers and office workers making presentations. They could use it standing on the floor or reduce it in size to use on table tops. They were made portable for students who needed to bring it to school. They even made collapsible pieces to make for easy storage. I wonder what they will think of next.

table top easels

December 2nd, 2009

Yesterday I was watching a show that featured a famous artist who specializes in modern abstract paintings. Her artworks fetches in the tens of thousands of dollars. There is a waitlist for her artwork. What was unique about her is she had first solo show at the age of 4. She’s probably 8 years old now. She started painting around 2 using table top easels.

Table top easels are perfect for young artists. At least the mess the will create is localized. Encouraging young artists is important. Who know? You might have a child prodigy in your son or daughter. As per the documentary I watched, she was producing 3-4 art pieces a month. She easily takes in 50,000 dollars a month. Not bad for a 4 year old.

abstract landscape painting

A few years ago, I went on a holiday in the east coast. I stayed in New York City for a month and in Washington Dc for a couple of weeks. In both cities I got to visit the museums. The Smithsonian Institution in DC is one of the most interesting gathering of museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan is equally as impressive. Since I like staring at an abstract landscape painting for a couple of minutes, it took me days to see all the paintings in the museums.

An abstract landscape painting can be intriguing, relaxing and puzzling all at the same time. An abstract painting of a meadow, a clearing and a beach could be quite relaxing. An abstract painting of a forest can leave one puzzled and intrigued. Abstract landscapes may not have all the details like that of other art genres but they sure give you an alternative way of looking at things. Abstract landscapes are very attractive and to some even irresistible.

easels

I live next door to an artist. Since we live in apartment building my neighbor artist usually paints on his balcony. His studio might be too small to accommodate all his easels. His easels are displayed all over his balcony. During the summer months he also teaches painting to kids.

Easels are usually a sign of a serious art student or an artist. The stereotype image of an artist with a beret painting on his easel is something we have all seen in movies and in cartoons. Easels are fun to have at home too. If you have a child who is a budding artist, he or she can draw and start painting right away. An easel can easily be transformed into a home black board for teaching.

decorative easels

October 7th, 2009

Some easels stand out because of the beauty of their designs. These decorative easels are made of hand carved wood, antique brass or twisted rod iron. Personal taste will dictate whether somebody will choose a gold, silver or wood finish in his easel. Whatever the choice, the important thing is that they are structurally strong. The tripod design is popular, but the H-frame form appears sturdy for big frames.

Decorative easels are ideal for displaying works in an artist studio. We also see it being used to prop up menus in restaurants. In the home it holds display plates and works of art in place. Whenever we find the need to have a decorative easel, it will be a good thing to choose one that can be adjusted as to height and angle. One that folds is also an advantage in moving it around and for easy storage.

Adjustable easels

Whether you are looking for an easel to use in the children’s room or in your office, it will be an additional benefit to look for certain features that will make it more practical to use. A folding easel will be practical if it will be moved from one room to another. It is also an advantage as it will not occupy too much space in storage. Adjustable easels are useful while sitting down or standing up. Adjustable tubular frames make it possible to raise or lower the board surface and set it at an appropriate angle.

An adjustable easel makes it possible to work or make a presentation while setting it up on a table or standing on the floor. This will be very useful for classroom or conference use. A quick loosening of the knobs will allow the teacher to adjust the board from where it was sitting on a table to a standing position. Aside from the height, the angle can also be adjusted. By angling it from vertical to horizontal, it will be easy to find the best position for viewing.

bunny paintings

Bunny Paintings

There is just something magical about bunnies. My little preschooler is just crazy about those twitchy noses and fuzzy fur. Rabbits are more than just the smart-alecky Bugs Bunny.

These creatures are so warm and cuddly, they actually serve as my therapy after a long day of taking care of the kids. My daughter’s birthday is coming up, and I bought her a set of bunny paintings. I am sure she will love them!
