Italians are known to be very good chefs. We know that basic Italian recipes contain rich ingredients like cheese, pepper, oregano, basil, tomatoes and ground beef. Some recipes however replace olive oil with butter. They are also fund of using wines in their dishes.
When it comes to dessert, Italian recipes contain less sugar and almost zero fat makers. This is the reason why they are so popular with health conscious individuals. They often use vanilla and cinnamon to spice up dessert. In making cakes and pastries, soft cheeses are commonly used. Grappas, lemoncello and sweet dessert liquors usually accompany Italian desserts.

I used to collect cook books when they were not yet that expensive. The hardbound ones were my favorite. The more colored pictures there were the better. I tried quite a few of the recipes in the books. But of course, I shied away from those that listed ingredients a kilometer long.
Some of my favorites were Chinese and Italian cookbooks. Chinese cooking involved simple and quick steps. Meat and veggies were usually cut up into smaller pieces so you had a meal in just a short time. Italian recipes were more complicated, especially if you are trying one of the Italian lasagna recipes. I used to do them when there are guests so I can prepare a big batch and make all the time spent in the kitchen worthwhile.
