For those who value their health and the environment, there is no other coffee to drink but organic. Organic coffee is produced without the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. It can easily be purchased on the market in different forms: decaffeinated, caffeinated, flavored or instant. Organic coffee can also be found on some ice cream and soda products. USDA-certified organic coffee contains at least 95 percent organic ingredients; however there are also those that are 100 percent organic.

Around the world, the organic coffee industry continues to grow. In 2006, total sales came to about 110 million dollars. This was 24 percent higher than in 2005. Organic coffee is produced in 40 countries including Brazil, Ecuador, Philippines, Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Peru, Ethiopia, and Mexico are the world’s largest producer of organic coffee. In 2007, approximately 81 million pounds of organic coffee was imported into the United States and Canada.
