disaster emergency kits

“Prevention is better than cure,” many people say, and many will associate this with being prepared for anything that will happen. Case in point: disasters, natural or not. Most of the time these disasters are destructive, and anyone can lose their home, properties, and even life in just a matter of minutes.

FEMA encourages people to prepare their disaster emergency kits so they can respond to any disaster and secure their well-being. As people can face solitary confinement or lack of power for up to three days and even more, having the kit will help them get through the worse and stay safe until further help arrives.

FEMA enumerates six basic items that should be included in any disaster emergency kit:

* Water
* Food
* First aid supplies
* Clothing, bedding, and sanitation supplies
* Tools
*Special items such as cash, important family documents, and items required by family members with special needs
