Vandalism is on the rise. Most are harmful but some are outright reckless and dangerous. Some vandals steal fire extinguishers. To them it is a good collector’s item. Every building should make policies to prevent fire extinguisher theft.

Fire extinguishers are a must in any establishment. Using it unnecessarily or stealing it outright is dangerous and outright stupid. It is the responsibility of the building administrator to make sure that all extinguishers work when you need it. To prevent and deter vandals from stealing and using it, install an alarm to prevent unauthorized access. To building tenants, prevent fire extinguisher theft by reporting vandals.
