A lot of people enjoy eating popcorn. But they really don’t know how this famous snack came to be. You can find out about popcorn history so you can better appreciate your movie time snack.
Some say that popcorn came from Mexico dating back to 2,300 B.C. when the Cachise Indians were thought to have grown and eaten popcorn. There was a funeral urn discovered from 300 A.D. that shows a picture of a maize god with some form of a primitive popcorn headdress. When Columbus first arrived in the West Indies, natives were already eating popcorn and even using the kernals as decorations. It is quite a long history before cracker jacks and flavored popcorn came along.
