Fend off diabetes and some types of cancer by eating a snack that tastes oh so good. The USDA, the National Cancer Institute, the American Dental Association and American Dietetic Association all agree that popcorn provides health benefits. A healthy popcorn snack is made of whole grains that are low in calories and fat.

Popcorn is also high in fiber which helps reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease. So go ahead and indulge. A cup of plain popcorn provides only 31-55 calories although if you add butter, it goes up to 133. Still, you’re starting with a wholesome foundation and that is what matters.
