Feeling sad once in a while is natural. It is a part of life. But, when a person’s feeling of sadness goes beyond normal, he or she may already have developed depression. This condition is a serious medical illness and can last for weeks, months or years at a time.
Some signs and symptoms of depression include:
~Persistent negative moods such as sadness, anxiety or emptiness
~Sensations of hopelessness and pessimism
~Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness
~Failure to find interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed
