Include a colorful addition to the percussion section of your orchestra. Xylophones produce ringing notes using a set of wooden bars, mounted on a frame. Each bar is tuned to a different pitch and is beaten with sticks. Most xylophones have tubes or gourds under each bar to make the sounds louder.
The bars are tuned to specific pitches of the musical scale. They are arranged generally from low (long bars) to high (short bars). Xylophones are tuned to different scale systems depending on their origin. These include pentatonic, heptatonic, diatonic and chromatic.
