Most musical bands these days will not be complete without things to bang on. Usually, two or more percussion instruments are played by musicians to achieve the distinct sounds they are aiming for. Percussion instruments are those that are sounded by striking, shaking, plucking or scraping. Drums and bells fall into this category.
There are various types of percussion instruments available for musicians today:~Tuned percussion – includes chimes, marimba, orchestra bells and xylophone ~Untuned percussion – bass drum, crash cymbals, gong, snare drum, etc. ~Auxiliary percussion – boat whistle, rattle, sleigh bells, tambourine, etc. ~Latin percussion – castanets, conga, maracas, etc. ~Drum kit – kick drum, ride cymbal, splash cymbal, tom-toms, etc.
