flugelhorn

Many people love to play different musical instruments. The most popular instruments are the piano and the guitar. Next would be wind instruments like trumpets, oboes, flutes and saxophones. There is one not so popular but distinct sounding instrument that is the flugelhorn.

The flugelhorn is like a trumpet but has a wider conical bore. This instrument is usually heard in jazz bands or brass bands and would occasionally appear in orchestral music. Chuck Mangione is one of the musicians who used the flugelhorn for his music and even gave up the trumpet for this instrument. There are other notable musicians who used it but never had the fame as other jazz instruments have achieved.
