cast nets

I grew up in the islands. Fishing is a major industry in our county. There are lots fishing methods done locally but cast nets are by far the most popular. The fisher folks were taught to cast nets as children. By the time they became teenagers, they became experts in casting nets.

Sometime ago, I visited a fishing community. I spent 4 months there learning how people made their living by the sea. My first week there was spent learning how to tie knots, cut and put bait as well. All of it I mastered in the first week except for casting nets. It took me a whole month of practicing daily before I was adept enough to cast it properly.
