There are many things that symbolize faith in the Catholic Church. For instance, holy water is water blessed by the priest. It is a symbol of purification and is used to bless anything that the church wishes to sanctify. It is believed to consecrate and protect those who use it from the power of darkness.
Besides baptisms, holy water is part of many ceremonies. It is used during house blessings as well as for the anointing of the sick. Holy water sanctifies whoever and whatever it touches. It frees people from uncleanness and attacks of the powers of darkness.
