In the teachings of the Catholic Church, there are ways of acquiring grace. The most important way is via the catholic sacraments. These, together with the Eucharistic sacrifice are the center of Catholic worship. The seven sacraments are Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. These are generally grouped into sacraments of Christian initiation, sacraments of healing and sacraments of the service of communion.
From childhood it is drummed in catechism class that the sacraments are ceremonies that are important and sacred to Christians. The more you practice them, the more graces you acquire. You need grace to enter the promised paradise. But there are sacraments that can only be administered once and these are Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Orders. Their effect is permanent.
