A barn star is actually a decorative painted object, usually a five-pointed star, used to adorn a barn. These are common in German-American farming communities. It is said that the stars were put on the barn to keep evil spirits away or simply to bring good luck.
Nowadays, barn stars are used for decorative or aesthetic purposes, even in homes without barns. These stars are very country in design and are popular among country lovers or country-themed homes.
