For centuries, colors have come to mean many things to different people. A yellow ribbon, for example, has provided symbolism for various things in the past up to the present. It can be found in country fairs as the color to award fourth place winners with.

It is also worn to show support to several causes such as The International Suicide Prevention Program and testicular cancer. But its most popular meaning remain as something associated with waiting for a loved one to return after a particularly long absence.
