Although they have their similarities, softball and baseball are completely different ball games. Thus, you cannot use baseball bats for a softball game the same way slowpitch softball bats cannot be used for a baseball game. The basic difference among these bats is the weight.

The swing of the batter will depend a lot on the weight of the bat he or she is holding. An adult baseball bat weighs 28 to 31 ounces on average. An adult slow-pitch softball bat, on the other hand, weighs 26 to 30 ounces. The barrel diameter of the bats is also different. The barrel diameter of a softball bat is narrower than that of a baseball bat.
